My Journey - Restarted again

Hi !
I am Vijay, writing stories since my childhood. My first published story was " Life of a Potato" in 1980 in a children story book - Champak. It inspired me to write more stories and I continued to do so till the age of 15. Then one fine day it changed for me me as I topped in my Class 10 board exam, people around started deciding what I should do in my life now onwards. My father wanted me to be a Chartered Accountant, my doctor aunty wants me to become a doctor. No one was really interested in knowing what I would like to be in my life. Finally it was decided that I will study Medical Sciences and I studied it for next 2 years, being a good student topped in the school once again in my Senior Secondary Board exams every one around was very happy and excited but  I was not happy with this achievement because this achievement is taking me away from my own goals and dreams.

After that I was selected in Pre Medical Entrance Exams as well but my father didn't want me to be a Dental Surgeon as he wasn't considering Dentists as a doctor therefore he suggested me to prepare again to get better rank in Pre medical entrance again for the next year. Because of my good marks in Senior Secondary exams I have got admission in Delhi University to study Chemistry honours. Next three years I was studying hard to complete my graduation in Chemistry Science graduate. By the time I completed my graduation, I was moving in a completely different direction. The relationship gap between me and my father was getting wider due to my ideological differences with him or may be because of the young rebellion in me.

I chose to start my professional journey on my own far away from my family, started my career with Pharmaceuticals MNC at Mumbai, everyday working very hard to prove myself to people around me. Completed my Post Graduation in Business Management whole working with this MNC. Before I could realize that my ego to prove myself has taken my so far away from my own goals, dreams and my destination which I chose as a young child it was too late to go back. Suddenly my father visited me at Mumbai, showed his true love for me and me make peace with each other.

Next year I came back to Delhi to join another MNC and to be with my family. Things have changed for me, people around me were expecting much more from me. For some of the relative I became the source of inspiration, for younger cousins I was the mentor and for few aunts I was the perspective Groom for their daughters.

I started enjoying my life for next few years with my friends and family until my grandmother (Nani) decided the fate of my married life, being an authoritative lady she simply announced that everything is finalized you just go there and say YES. Being a obedient grandson couldn't able to say NO as I didn't want to offend my grandmother followed her wishes. Got married to a stranger, brought up in different culture, in a different city. First few years we struggled to get adjusted to each other's likings, beliefs, lifestyles and most importantly strong personalities. Time passed by and we were blessed with two lovely daughters. Since I was responsible for three more lives now, I chose to go further in the same direction and started enjoying this life. Successful business management professional at work, roaming around the world for business trips, earning more money, gathering objects of comforts for my family, loved by all around me for my professional achievements. My daughters are my source of energy to move faster in my life and I forgot my own goals, dreams and aspirations.

Life was going on until my elder daughter came to me said she found old dairy in my bookshelf and read some of the stories I have written when I was of her age (12-15 years), she entered into her teens on that day, yes it was her 13th birthday. Instead of asking for a gift she asked me a question with a curiosity on her face " What you wanted to be when you were 13 or of my age". Without knowing the reason I lied to her and said I wanted to be a Successful Business Professional and I became one, stood proudly in front of her. She showed my old diary and looked deep into my eyes and said Papa, please do not lie at least to yourself. I've read these stories written by you and a statement written in bold letters on the first page of this diary " I WANT TO BE A WRITER" when you were of my age. My body was shivering and my eyes were wet with my tears flowing from my eyes because no one has asked me this before - What I want to be in my life. My daughter asked for special gift on her 13th Birthday - A promise to her that I will start writing again to follow my childhood dreams to reach my ultimate goal to be a Successful Writer now onwards. Just started my long lost journey again, I am sure with the support of my loved ones and my determination to succeed again will help me in writing good interesting stories to share with all my readers......My Journey begins.....follow me to this exciting journey.....you will be thrilled and excited to read my stories.....This is my promise to all of you.....
